ASSISTANT, confused: Mr. Mayor?
JIM WATSON: David, being the publicly likeable mayor of a major Canadian city isn’t easy. It’s a hard road, full of pitfalls and rivalries. Occupying a seat in public office means occupying a space in the hearts and minds of the people, and it’s a hotly-contested space. In this kind of climate, it can be hard to tell friend from foe until the other person makes a definitive move.
